Crime Up in Kennesaw

The biggest jump was in property crimes, according to the 2011 FBI Uniform Crime Report, which was released this week.

Despite a national trend that shows a decline in violent and property crimes, Kennesaw saw bumps in both categories, according to the 2011 FBI Uniform Crime Report, which was released this week.

The biggest jump was in property crimes, which rose from 526 in 2010 to 571 in 2011. 

Property crimes, according to the FBI definition, include burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft and arson.

Violent crimes, which include murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault, rose from 20 in 2010 to 21 in 2011. There were no murders in Kennesaw in 2010 or 2011. And the number of forcible rape incidents dropped from 2 in 2010 to 0 in 2011.
