Driver Charged With Vehicular Homicide in Fatal Wreck

Robert Emmett Flavin also was charged with failure to yield in the two-vehicle accident last week that killed a Kennesaw man.

The driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal two-vehicle wreck last week in southwest Cherokee County has been charged with vehicular homicide.

Woodstock resident Robert Emmett Flavin, 63, also faces a failure to yield charge in the accident that killed Carlisle Lucas Spencer, 30, of Kennesaw on April 11, Georgia State Patrol spokesperson Gordy Wright said.

Flavin was booked into the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center on Monday afternoon, and bonded out of jail later that night, the Cherokee Sheriff's Office confirmed on Thursday.

At around 3:55 p.m. on April 11, state troopers were dispatched to the two-vehicle accident on Bells Ferry Road at Bells Ferry Place just south of Highway 92 in southwest Cherokee County.

According to the agency, Spencer was traveling southbound on the motorcycle on Bells Ferry Road when he struck the right side of a Kia Sorento driven by Flavin, which was making a left turn onto Bells Ferry Place.

Spencer died while en route to WellStar Kennestone Hospital.
