Interstate 575 South is closed indefinitely due to a fatality crash that occurred just before 2 p.m. today, according to a Nixle alert from Cobb County Government.

The Cobb County Police and Georgia State Patrol are on the scene, which is just north of Chastain Road.

WSB Radio's Judd Hickinbotham said afternoon and evening commuters should expect heavy dealys on I-575 North from the I-75 split. He suggests drivers exit at Highway 92 (exit No. 7), go east to Canton Highway, head south to either New Chastain Road or Piedmont Road and travel east to get back to I-575.
