'Suspicious' Fire in Kennesaw

Kennesaw Police and Cobb Fire officials are investigating a fire at a McGuire Street home.

Kennesaw Police and Cobb Fire officials are investigating a house fire and possible arson that occurred in Kennesaw at around 3:45 p.m. today.

Officer Scott Luther, one of the officers who responded to the fire, said it has not been confirmed whether or not there was an explosion. There is a possibility the fire was caused by someone, he said.

"Right now, it appears that it is suspicious," Luther said.

Cobb Fire spokesman Lt. Dan Dupree said fire units extinguished the fire within 20 minutes of arriving. The fire appeared to have spread to the second floor and the attic, said Dupree.

Luther said there were family members in the home during the incident but that no one was injured. Cobb Fire officials are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
