Kennesaw PD: 'Protect Your Valuables'

Kennesaw police issue tips for preventing thefts from autos.

issued an alert this morning about several thefts from autos reported in the Kennesaw area over the weekend.

The department listed the following tips to help prevent similar incidents:

1. Always lock your vehicles and close your windows completely.
Perpetrators are forcing down windows that are left partially
open.

2. The perpetrators of car break-ins often move around from one
area to another, making it difficult to anticipate their next
target area. Another reason so many vehicles are broken into
is that people continue to leave valuable items inside of their
parked cars.

3. Purses, IPods, IPads, cell phones, cameras, CD’s, laptop computers,
even loose change laying on the console are an invitation to
those who choose to subsidize their income by committing the
crime of Entering Auto.

4. The Kennesaw Police Department encourages you not to leave any items of value in the passenger compartment of parked vehicles. Installing good exterior lighting is another good method of prevention.

If you have information to report that could help lead to an arrest in these crimes, please contact the Kennesaw Police Department at 770-422-2505.
