Kennesaw Police Chief Headed to FBI Academy

The academy is in Virginia.

Kennesaw Police Chief Bill Westenberger has been selected to attend the prestigious FBI National Academy at Quantico, Virginia.

The academy is a 10-week professional course of study for U.S. and international law enforcement leaders that serves to improvethe administration of justice and to raise law enforcement standards, knowledge, and cooperation inpolice departments and agencies at home and abroad. Participation is by invitation only, though anomination process.

Chief Westenberger will attend the class beginning in April. Four times a year, classes of some 250 officers take undergraduate and/or graduate college courses intechnical and operational skills, contemporary issues in law enforcement, ethics and decision making,organizational behavior, and health/fitness. Officers participate in a wide range of leadership andspecialized training, and they share ideas, techniques, and experiences with each other, creating lifelongpartnerships that span state and national lines.

“It is an honor to have been selected for this program, and I am looking forward to the academic andphysical challenges,” Westenberger said. “Attendance at the Academy is a privilege and I intend toembrace the opportunity.”
