Kennesaw Police to Join 24-Hour Tweet-a-Thon

The department will promote policing through social media.

When it comes to social media, the Kennesaw Police Department knows a thing or two about hashtags and keeping messages to no more than 140 characters.

The agency has Facebook and Twitter pages. Chief Bill Westenberger regularly tweets.

And starting at 8 a.m. today, the Kennesaw Police Department will put its social media knowledge to the test.

Kennesaw will join police departments around the world in a global, 24-hour Tweet-a-thon "to bring awareness to social media and prove how useful it is to share information in real-time," said Officer Scott Luther, the spokesman for the agency.

All of the participating agencies will use the same hashtag of #Poltwt.
