Kennesaw to Get New Fire Truck

The truck at Station No. 8 will be designed to handle fires from airplane accidents.

A new fire truck that will be housed at one of Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services Kennesaw stations will be able to do things that other trucks can't do.

According to the Marietta Daily Journal, the truck at Station No. 8 will spray foam while moving. That feature, if needed, would allow firefighters to cover the entire runway at nearby Cobb County Airport at McCollum Field.

Because of the station's proximity to the airport, the truck also will be outfitted with a 65-gallon foam tank as opposed to the 25-gallon tank that will be on two other trucks expected to be added to the department's fleet in Marietta, according to the MDJ.

The three trucks will be paid for through 2011 SPLOST dollars. Each truck costs $497,000.
