Man Allegedly Rapes Kennesaw Woman, Calls 911

Authorities said that Jesus Funez confessed to a Cobb police officer.

A Marietta man allegedly raped a Kennesaw woman while she was unconscious last Thursday, then called 911 to report the incident to police, according to a Cobb County criminal warrant.

Jesus Funez of Marietta is in custody without bond on a charge of rape. He has an U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold on his release, according to online jail records.

The incident occurred between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. April 4 in a TownPark Crossing apartment unit, records show.

"Accused is known to the victim for some time and was at the victim's residence by invitation," an officer wrote in the warrant. "Victim did report said rape to police. Accused did call 911 to report the incident to police and did admit to affiant that he did rape the victim."

Hours after the alleged rape, Funez was arrested at Cobb County Police Department headquarters, according to online jail records.
