Mother Accused of Child Deprivation

She was arrested after a June 26 custody exchange in Kennesaw.

Cobb authorities have arrested an Ohio woman whose 11-year-old daughter has not attended school since October 2012.

Angie Romonia Smith and the girl have primarily lived inside a vehicle, according to an arrest warrant.

"Accused failed to provide a safe environment for the minor child knowing that the child's father lives in the immediate area with means to provide adequate care for the child," authorities said.

A Cobb County Superior Court judge on June 24 ordered that Smith return the girl to her biological father, according to an arrest warrant. But Smith allegedly refused to comply with that order during a June 26 custody exchange that occurred in the 400 block of Ernest Barrett Parkway.

"Accused ... (pulled) the minor child inside the drivers door of the vehicle," authorities said. "Further, the accused refused to exit the vehicle when ordered to do so in an attempt to prevent the exchange of custody and had to be physically removed while in the presence of the minor child."

Smith was arrested on charges that include willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer, interference with custody and contributing to the deprivation of a minor. She remains in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center in lieu of $6,000 bond.
