Cobb Democrats Host Final Forum Today

The Cobb County Democratic Committee is hosting a second candidate forum, but this time the focus is on U.S. Congress, Cobb Commission and Cobb School Board candidates.

Cobb Democrats Chairwoman Melissa Pike will moderate the forum, asking prepared questions as well as taking questions from the audience, on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. in the Cobb Commissioners Board Room at 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta.

Armed Robberies Reported in Buckhead

Two armed robberies recently occurred in Buckhead, according to reports released by the Atlanta Police Department.

One victim told police that while walking on the sidewalk at 2399 Parkland Dr. NE on July 21, three males drove up in a black mini-van and robbed him at gunpoint of his iPhone and wallet, which contained credit cards, a debit card and $60 cash.

On July 14, a victim told police that he was robbed at gunpoint by two suspects at 2025 Peachtree Road NE, in the parking lot of a business listed as "Banana Wings" in the report.

Details of Robbery of Elderly Woman Released

The  is investigating a burglary and strong-armed robbery that led to the injury of an 88-year-old woman at the home.

According to sheriff’s office reports, the incident happened about 4 p.m. Thursday. A deputy that responded to a burglary-in-progress report at a home on the 1800 block of Highway 101 North in Dallas found Mary Jane Jackson bleeding heavily from her right arm.
