Remains of Missing Kennesaw Man ID'd

The GBI Division of Forensic Science on Friday positively identified the remains of a Kennesaw man who went missing more than two months ago while in the North Georgia mountains, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Richard Arnold "Rick" Masters, 56, was reported missing on July 21 by his brother, who lives in Acworth, after not being heard from in two days.

Masters liked to hike in the area of Tallulah Falls, and his unoccupied Jeep Cherokee was found July 26 at the end of Kelsey Mountain Road, which is where he likely had been hiking, according to the AJC. Rabun County authorities said the Jeep was locked when they found it and that there were no signs of foul play.

Authorities used aircraft and K-9 units to search the area. Earlier this month, a Rabun resident discovered human remains while walking in the area and notified the Mountain City Police Department.

While officials don't suspect foul play, the case is still under investigation, according to the AJC.
