Don't be alarmed by all of the activity Sunday morning around Town Center at Cobb.
From 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., the Cobb County Department of Public Safety and other agencies will conduct "a full scale active shooter exercise," said Sgt. Dana Pierce, the spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department.
The exercise will force the department to shut down Ring Road, the road around Town Center, for the duration of the training.
"This complex exercise is designed to establish a learning environment for first responders testing various policies, procedures and plans as it pertains to an active shooter and mass casualty event," he said in a news release. "Subject matter experts and representatives from local public safety agencies will be taking part in this exercise which will test public safety and security responses, communications, Unified Incident Command and Emergency Medical responses."
