Kennesaw Teens Charged in Armed Robbery

arrested two teenage boys today in connection to an armed robbery that occurred Dec. 28 at the Legacy Park amphitheatre in Kennesaw.

Seventeen-year-old Brian McCary and 18-year-old Martavious Banks of Kennesaw are accused of using a handgun to rob two other teenage boys, said Kennesaw Police spokesman Officer Scott Luther.

Luther said the two victims and McCary, a Legacy Park resident, attend school together at .

"Apparently, what had happened is they had arranged to meet each other. When they met, apparently something didn’t go as planned," Luther said.

"One of the suspects pulled a small caliber handgun out, and that’s when they demanded money," Luther said. He said $30 in cash was stolen.

Luther said police found a handgun matching the description of the robbery weapon at a Nowlin Road home this afternoon.

Luther said it is unclear whether more individuals were involved in the robbery.

McCary and Banks have been charged with armed robbery and are being held without bond.
