Three Convicted in Death of Kennesaw Man

Sentencing is scheduled for Monday and they could be facing life in prison.

A Cobb County jury has found three men guilty of murdering a Kennesaw resident in early 2012.

Jalin “Snoop” Collins, 20, of Marietta, and Percy “P” Burdine, 31, and Brandon “Gutter” Love, 20, both of Woodstock, could get life in prison for the shooting death of Milton Carl Kelley.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Monday at 9 a.m. before Cobb Superior Court Judge Stephen Schuster, according to the Cobb District Attorney's office.

Kelley, 53, was found lying in the driveway of his home on Leicester Court on April 21, 2012.

Burdine and Collins were convicted of felony murder, aggravated assault, and marijuana possession. Collins and Love were also convicted of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Love was convicted of malice murder.

“The motive was greed – wanting drugs and money,” Cobb deupty chief assistant district attorney Jesse Evans told jurors.

According to evidence presented at the trial, the defendants shared a house in Woodstock. Burdine had previously purchased marijuana from Kelley, and wanted to steal some more from him, prosectors alleged.

Prosecutors said that on the night of the murder Burdine texted Kelley to make sure he was home, then brought Collins and Love with him to the victim's residence. During the attack, Kelley was shot through the eye at close range "for nothing," according to Evans.

The suspects were arrested several days after the killing and have been held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

The trial was delayed from the summer, when Collins' attorney asked for a continuance for medical reasons.
