The woman who allegedly for five hours May 25 has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and second degree cruelty to children.
According to police, 21-year-old Jennifer Peacock of Kennesaw left the 5-month-old girl in a vehicle in the parking lot at her place of employment, in Kennesaw.
Peacock arrived to work at the day care center at about noon but apparently forgot about the infant, who was asleep, while unloading items out of the vehicle, said Officer Scott Luther of the Kennesaw Police Department.
The infant died after several attempts to revive her.
Peacock was taken to Kennestone Hospital shortly afterward due to her reactions to the incident, said Luther. Peacock was the cousin of the infant, he said.
Peacock turned herself in to the Cobb County Sheriff's Office shortly before 10 this morning, according to jail records.
She was released from the Cobb County Adult Detention Center shortly before 11:30 a.m. after posting $25,000 bond.
