Man Injured in Quarry Accident

A worker at Vulcan Materials was critically injured and transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital before being taken to the Augusta burn center.

An employee at quarry in Kennesaw was critically injured in an accident about 11 a.m. Wednesday.

A welder was doing repair work using a bucket truck to lift material at 1272 Duncan Rd., near , when the bucket truck's boom came into contact with a 4,160-volt power line, reported the Marietta Daily Journal.

spokeswoman Denell Boyd said two men were involved with the accidentβ€”one man was injured, while a second man was unharmed after Georgia Power shut off electricity to the power lines.

Vulcan human resources director Jimmy Fleming said the man who was shocked was transported to before being taken to the Augusta burn center for non-life-threatening injuries.

The , which has operated in Kennesaw for 60 years, ecompasses 350 acres and employs almost 50 people.
