Cobb Board of Education to Announce Superintendent Finalist Tonight

Reports indicate that Dallas superintendent Michael Hinojosa is the finalist for the Cobb position.

The Cobb County Board of Education plans to announce its sole finalist for superintendent at its regular monthly meeting tonight.

The  made that announcement this afternoon, a few hours before the board will meet in an executive session at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the superintendent search and perhaps other personnel matters. The regular meeting starts at 7 at the Central Office at 514 Glover St. in Marietta.

The Dallas Morning News reports that Cobb's choice to succeed Fred Sanderson is Michael Hinojosa, the superintendent of the Dallas Independent School District.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution also reports that Hinojosa is the choice, citing unnamed sources.

Hinojosa has held the Dallas position since 2005. He was a candidate for the Las Vegas superintendent's position last year, but eventually signed a three-year contract extension to remain in Dallas.

The Cobb County Schools' facebook page notes that the board will name the finalist, then seek input from the community during a 14-day public comment period, as required by Georgia law.
