Kennesaw is asking local churches to remember the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn.
Twenty-six people—20 of them children—were killed Friday when a man opened fire inside the school. The suspected shooter, 20-year-old Adam Lanza, committed suicide and his mother was found dead at the home where the two lived, according to Newtown Patch.
The following message appears on Kennesaw's website:
Local cities are joining in a Georgia Municipal Association initiative to encourage their local churches to ring their bells 26 times on Friday at 9:30 am in memory of the twenty children and six adults who lost their lives during the tragic school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. We appreciate your consideration of this request as our entire nation grieves over this horrific tragedy.
