City Signs Contract for Skate Park
During Monday's meeting, the council finalized a contract with California Skateparks for the design and construction of a skate park in Swift-Cantrell Park.

According to preliminary designs, the skate park will be 40,000 square feet and cost $1.2 million, with $750,000 coming from earlier this year.
The city is partnering with celebrity skateboarder Rob Dyrdek and his foundation to raise funds for the difference.

Also at the meeting, coordinators David and Barbara Borden announced the August race raised $10,000. The couple presented Mathews with a plaque bearing photographs from the event.
John Loud, President of the Kennesaw Business Association, presented Mathews with a check from the association intended to help with the maintenance of the Smith-Gilbert Memorial for Frank Boone.

The city also welcomed a new officer to Kennesaw’s police force, Officer James Christopher Crane. Crane completed his field training on Sep. 14.
Members of American Legion Georgia Post 304 came forward and thanked the mayor and council for their support of the association. They also invited all citizens to attend on Friday, Nov. 11.
The council also unanimously approved an alcohol pouring license for Danny Williams, owner of Kennesaw Entertainment, LLC.
