Free Websites for Georgia Businesses

The state is partnering with Google to provide websites and online tools to local business owners.

Gov. Nathan Deal announced Monday a partnership with Google to provide free websites to small businesses throughout Georgia. Georgia Get Your Business Online aims to drive economic growth by giving business owners the tools to establish themselves online.

“This new initiative will help grow small businesses in Georgia and provide business owners a valuable resource at no cost,” Deal said in a statement. “One of the best ways we can help our economy expand is to help Georgia businesses increase their visibility online.”

For the next year, participating Georgia businesses can visit www.georgiagetonline.com and receive a free website as well as free online tools, training and resources.

Google is partnering with Intuit to provide each business with an easy-to-build website, a customized domain name and free web hosting for one year. After a year, the site will cost $4.99 a month for hosting and $2 a month for the domain name.

While 97 percent of Americans look online for local products or businesses, 54 percent of Georgia small businesses do not have websites, the release said.

“The perception that getting online is complex, costly and time-consuming has prevented many Georgia small businesses from taking the first step,” said Scott Levitan, Director of Small Business Engagement at Google. “This program makes it fast, easy and free for businesses to get online."

Georgia is the latest state to participate in Google’s Get Your Business Online program, which is expanding across the United States and serves 23 countries.
