Eaton-Welsh Announces Candidacy for Kennesaw City Council

The City of Kennesaw's General Election will be held Nov. 8 for Mayor and City Council Posts 1 and 2.

City Councilmember and Kennesaw business owner Cris Eaton-Welsh has announced her candidacy for Post 1 of the Kennesaw City Council.

Eaton-Welsh, who currently serves on Post 1 and whose term ends Dec. 31 of this year, is seeking a second term for 2012–2015.

The owner of announced her bid for re-election to close friends and family during the business's annual July 4th celebration.

“I am seeking a second term as your representative to continue working on your behalf in the City of Kennesaw. Focusing on Fiscal Responsibility – committing to successfully manage our City’s budget, committing to our City Employees, to continue fighting so there is no increase in our millage rate, and committed to finding new and creative ways to cut spending while maintaining our quality of life," said Eaton-Welsh in a statement.

"I will also focus on Economic Development – continuing to build strong relationships with our existing businesses, encourage sustainable development for our community while giving special attention to implementing our Depot Park Master Plan," said Eaton-Welsh. "I will also continue to focus on ways to improve our Communications between our residents and the City – one of which is working with the newly developed Citizens Advisory Committee.”

The City of Kennesaw's General Election will be held Nov. 8 for Mayor and City Council Posts 1 and 2. The qualifying fees are 3 percent of the gross salary of each office and are set at $576 for Mayor and $360 for Council. The qualifying period will be Aug. 29-31 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Training Room at .

Mark Mathews, who has served as mayor of Kennesaw since 2008, to the Kennesaw Business Association in January.

Also on the ballot, voters will find a Sunday alcohol sales referendum. The Kennesaw City Council voted unanimously to put the referendum on the ballot and if voters decide to allow Sunday alcohol sales in Kennesaw.  Sunday sales will be available between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. if the measure passes.
