Kennesaw Celebrates 125th Anniversary Today

A birthday program will be held at 3 p.m. at Depot Park.

Officials in Kennesaw will celebrate the city's 125th anniversary on Saturday.

The program will include acknowledgment of past and present civic leaders. In addition, city staff will sponsor a booth containing displays depicting a timeline of ’s history including photos, maps, and articles. T-shirts, lapel pins and commemorative coins featuring a logo designed by student Rachel Fred will be available for sale.

“Kennesaw has a rich and eventful heritage, and anniversaries like this one present the perfect opportunity to revisit and celebrate our past,” Mayor Mark Mathews said.  “Our city has come such a long way from a railroad shanty town to the vibrant, progressive community it is today.”
