The 2012 Kennesaw comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

The award was presented by Mayor Mark Mathews at the Jan. 21 meeting of the Mayor & Council.

“This recognition of Finance Director Gina Auld and her team shows our focus on providing accurate and complete financial information to our city leaders and taxpayers,” said City Manager Steve Kennedy.

The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potentials users to read the CAFR.
