Kennesaw Honors Veterans

Today's free luncheon for 150 veterans paid tribute to those who have served and are currently serving in our military.

Flags were flying everywhere today in downtown Kennesaw as the city paused to honor all veterans on this 11-11-11 Veterans Day. The City of Kennesaw hosted its annual today from 12 to 2 p.m. at , located at 2753 Watts Dr. in Kennesaw.

Past and present military members were invited to attend the free lunch, hosted by the city of Kennesaw and American Legion North Cobb Post 304. Restaurant in Kennesaw catered the event. The Junior ROTC unit presented the colors and and welcomed the special guests.

"I just have two words to say to you today," said Killingsworth, a former military veteran himself. "Thank you."

He also introduced 92-year-old Clayton Ezell, a World War II veteran and survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack. Recalling that terrible December day, Ezell said he had to put it all behind and serve his country.

"You do what you have to do," Ezell said.

Members of a local homeschool history class were on hand to help serve veterans a delicious meal provided by at 3655 Cherokee Street.
