Kennesaw Road Work, Oct. 7-11

Here are the latest updates on road work being done around Kennesaw and Cobb County, according to the Cobb Department of Transportation.

Barrett Parkway Construction

Barrett Parkway (Burnt Hickory Road to US 41) – Monday, Oct. 7, through Friday, Oct. 11

Expect periodic lane closures 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Burnt Hickory Road and Cobb Parkway (US 41) with two lanes remaining open as the contractor performs final grading operations, wall construction, signal work and final roadway striping. Utility relocation should not affect your service. 

Barrett Parkway at Home Center Drive Intersection – Monday, Oct. 7, through Friday, Oct. 11
Expect intermittent lane closure 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at this intersection with at least one lane remaining one while the contractor continues clearing operations, grading, placing concrete and signal work. Utility relocations should not affect your service.

Floyd Road Construction

Clay Road to Hicks Road – Monday, Oct. 7, through Friday, Oct. 11

Expect periodic lane closures 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open while the contractor continues installing curb and gutter, storm drainage, grading, signal work and wall construction. Utility companies will be relocating services. 

Pedestrian Access

Temporary sidewalks are in place to assist pedestrians while old sidewalks are removed and new sidewalks are constructed along the east side of Floyd Road. Additional traffic barrels and directional signage are in place. All existing bus stops will be maintained. 

Brookwood Drive Sidewalk Construction

Silver Comet Trail to Anderson Mill Road – Monday, Oct. 7, through Friday, Oct. 11

Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open while the contractor continues installing storm drainage, curb and gutter and utility relocations.

Ewing Road Sidewalk Construction

Clay Road to Eloquent Lane – Monday, Oct. 7, through Friday, Oct. 11

Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open while the contractor continues clearing and installing water main.

Pisgah Road Sidewalk Construction

South Gordon Road to Wallace Park – Monday, Oct. 7, through Friday, Oct. 11

The contractor will begin clearing and relocating utilities.

Lower Roswell Road Construction

Davidson Road to Willow Point Parkway – Monday, Oct. 7, through Friday, Oct. 11

This section of Lower Roswell Road is substantially complete. Contractor is working on punch list.

Willow Point Parkway to Timber Ridge Road – Monday, Oct. 7, through Friday, Oct. 11

Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Willow Point Parkway and Timber Ridge Road with one lane remaining open. Contractor will begin asphalt paving operations on the east end of the project. They will also shift traffic at the roundabout to begin installing concrete curb and apron. 

Concord Road Construction, City of Smyrna

South Cobb Drive to Atlanta Road – Monday, Oct. 7, through Friday, Oct. 11

Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open in each direction at all times.  The Evelyn Street intersection with Concord Road has been permanently closed.

Roswell Road (SR120) Construction, GDOT

Paper Mill Road Bridge Replacement

Paper Mill Road Bridge at Sope Creek is closed through Oct. 25, 2013.

The new bridge will include a six foot sidewalk on the south side, providing access to National Park Service trails. A signed detour route will be provided during construction. 

Paper Mill Road at Sope Creek  – Saturday, Oct. 5 through Friday, Oct. 11

The contractor will continue work on the bridge deck, water line installation and begin work on roadway approaches. Utilities will be relocating services.

Road Resurfacing

Asphalt paving operations, which include lane closures, are scheduled on the following roads:

• Cheatham Hill Road from Powder Springs Road to John Ward Road
• Old Stilesboro Road from Acworth Due West Road to Mars Hill Road
• Pebblebrook Road from Veterans Memorial Highway to Buckner Road
• Hilcrest Drive from South Gordon Road to Six Flags Parkway
• Six Flags Drive from Blair Bridge Road to Factory Shoals Road
