Kennesaw's Jenkins Appointed to National Council on Youth
The councilmember was selected based upon his demonstrated commitment to issues involving young people and families.
Kennesaw Councilmember Bruce Jenkins has accepted an appointment as a member of the National League of Cities (NLC) Council on Youth, Education and Families for 2013. The Council includes local elected officials as well as national policy experts and youth leaders from large and small cities and state municipal leagues. The Council’s role is to oversee and support the work of the NLC’s Institute for Youth, Education and Families (YEF).
Jenkins was selected based upon his demonstrated commitment to issues involving young people and families. The YEF Council includes local elected officials, national policy experts, and youth leaders. Meetings are held three times a year, and offer opportunities for thought-provoking discussions and the exchange of useful information that can inform and enrich family advocacy efforts.
“It is an honor to be chosen for this initiative that focuses on youth and families,” Jenkins said. “As an educator and father, I have always had a great personal interest in such issues. I’m looking forward to contributing ideas and comparing experiences with other municipal leaders from all over the country.”
