Officials: No Gun Found at High School

A report Thursday morning of a student potentially heading to  with a handgun led to authorities searching a school bus and the students on it, but no such weapon was found.

“The Dallas Police Department received a call from a concerned parent that they thought a student might have a gun on the bus. That call was routed to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Department,” said Brian Otott, associate superintendent of , adding that deputies quickly responded and searched students as well as their bus but found no gun.

Woman Struck by Own Vehicle Dies

Mary Cantrell, the 69-year-old woman who was flown to Grady Hospital in Atlanta after she was struck by her own vehicle on Wednesday, has died.

"The victim was taken off life support and was pronounced as dead at 3 p.m.," Det. Candy Worthy of the  said in an email this afternoon. "Her injuries were consistent with generalized massive trauma to the head and body. Our prayers are with her family."

Driver Dies in Marietta Rollover Wreck

Gary M. Humphreys, 25, was ejected from his Jeep and pronounced dead at the scene of an overnight crash in Marietta, 11 Alive and CBS Atlanta report.

The Wrangler Jeep overturned at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Ebenezer Road and Blackwell Road, according to 11 Alive.
