Construction on the Skip Spann Connector willl begin in fall 2013.

Cobb County transportation officials want to hear your thoughts on the proposed Skip Spann Connector, a project intended to relieve congestion along Chastain Road at the Interstate 75 interchange.

A public information open house has been scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 16 at Kaiser Permanente, 750 TownPark Lane, Kennesaw.

The Skip Spann Connector will provide a new bridge over I-75 north of Chastain Road to provide direct access from Kennesaw State University to the Town Center economic activity center.

According to the project website, it is estimated that the Skip Spann Connector will result in a 19 percent reduction in daily traffic along Chastain Road at the I-75 interchange; improved access from Kennesaw State to the Northwest Corridor Managed Lanes access ramps at Big Shanty and the GRTA/CCT park and ride lots; improved access at the Chastain Road and I-75 interchange; pedestrian and bicycle access between the KSU campus and stadium.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the fall.
