Wife Seeks to Finish Thrash's Term

Councilman Bill Thrash died in May after a long battle with cancer.

The wife of the late Bill Thrash wants to complete the rest of her husband's term on the Kennesaw City Council.

According to the Marietta Daily Journal, Suzanne Thrash has submitted an affidavit to the city of Kennesaw to be considered for his Post 4 seat.  

Thrash died in May after a long battle with cancer. A memorial is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Kennesaw Mountain High School.

Those interested in filling Thrash's seat have until 5 p.m. June 7 to submit a sworn affidavit affirming that they meet the minimum qualifications for office.

Qualified candidates must:

  • be at least 21 years old;
  • be a resident of Kennesaw for one year prior to election day;
  • meet the requirements of a qualified voter as described by state law;
  • and have a record free of felony convictions.

Those who have received a full pardon are eligible to run for office.
