North Cobb Schools Tackle Hunger

Local elementary schools were challenged to collect food to help those in need during the holiday season.

Kennesaw's Bullard Elementary collected more non-perishable food items than any other North Cobb elementary in the inaugural Freedom Challenge Cup.

Presented by Freedom Church, Piedmont Church, NorthStar Church and the City of Acworth, the Cup challenges local elementary schools to collect food to help those in need during the holiday season.

Acworth Intermediate, Bullard Elementary, Kennesaw Elementary, Lewis Elementary, McCall Primary, North Cobb Christian and Pitner Elementary collected more than 17,500 non-perishable food items, said Jeff Chase, the assistant director of Acworth's . Bullard donated more than half of that amount—9,000 items in all.
