Kennesaw Mountain Posts Big Gains on Writing Test
The Georgia High School Writing Test is required for students to earn a high school diploma.
Kennesaw Mountain and South Cobb 11th graders were singled out today for posting the largest gains of any Cobb County high school on the state's high-stakes writing exam.
The Georgia High School Writing Test, which was administered in late September, is required for students to earn a high school diploma. To pass, students must earn 200 points. A 350 is a perfect score.
At Kennesaw Mountain and South Cobb, the percentage of juniors who met or exceeded standards grew by 4 percent, the biggest increase of Cobb's 16 high schools, according to data the district released today.

Kennesaw Mountain was one of 11 schools with a passing rate of at least 98 percent.
“I’m proud to see that our district-wide efforts to incorporate writing in all academic areas, including math and science, are resulting in improved performance and a higher passing rate on the GHSWT for Cobb County,” Cobb County Schools Superintendent Michael Hinojosa said in a statement.
