Kennesaw State Named One of Nation’s Most Affordable Universities

Kennesaw State was named one of the top 100 “Most Affordable Large Public Colleges” in the U.S. by AffordableCollegesOnline.org, a website for prospective college students and their parents.

“The inclusion in this listing, along with Kennesaw State’s other recent top national rankings of our academic programs, solidifies the value that the university offers,” said Kim West, associate vice president for Enrollment Services at Kennesaw State. “The affordability of our university is just one aspect that makes KSU a sensible choice for many students in Georgia.”

College costs have increased more than 450 percent in the past 25 years, nearly five times the rise in wages, according to AffordableCollegesOnline.org.

Kennesaw State’s 2012-13 tuition is less than $3,500 per semester for a full-time in-state student, a cost that remains low even among four-year, doctoral-granting universities in Georgia. Three of Georgia’s large public universities were named to the top 100 list.

To be eligible for the annual listing, colleges and universities must be public, four-year institutions costing less than $15,500. Higher education institutions were chosen after review of data provided by the federal government and the Carnegie Foundation.

AffordableCollegesOnline.org is a website that offers students information about affordable higher education options. The website provides financial aid videos, expert advice and cost savings ideas.
