Kennesaw Students Receive National Merit Scholarships

Three students from Kennesaw Mountain High School and a student from Wheeler High School have been awarded merit scholarships at Georgia Tech.

Four Kennesaw-area seniors were among nearly 3,000 students announced today as winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by colleges and universities throughout the United States.

Three students from , along with one student from Wheeler, have been awarded the National Merit Georgia Institute of Technology Scholarship. Awards vary from $500 to $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.

This year, participating sponsor colleges and universities throughout the nation include 118 private and 80 public institutions located in 45 states and Washington, D.C.

Another group of scholars will be announced in July, bringing the total number of 2011 National Merit Scholarship winners to about 4,800.

Stephen V. Camp, Kennesaw Mountain – National Merit Georgia Institute of Technology Scholarship. Probable career field: Research/Engineering.

Jennifer M. Hwang, Kennesaw Mountain – National Merit Georgia Institute of Technology Scholarship. Probable career field: Aerospace Engineering.

Robert J. O'Neal, Wheeler High School – National Merit Georgia Institute of Technology Scholarship. Probable career field: Physics.

Bailey E. Ernstes, Kennesaw Mountain – National Merit Georgia Institute of Technology Scholarship. Probable career field: Medicine.
