A Kennesaw woman has been inducted into the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor societies.

Samantha Christian, a business management major at Auburn University, was initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, officials recently announced.

Only seniors in the top 10 percent and juniors in the top 7.5 percent of their class are eligible for membership, which is by invitation only.

Each year, approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni are initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, whose mission is "to recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others."
