KSU to Host Retirement, Social Security Class

Kennesaw State University’s College of Continuing and Professional Education is set to host a free class titled Retirement and Social Security on Wednesday, Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to noon at KSU Center. The course is part of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute which provides educational and social opportunities for adults ages 50 and older.

The free three-hour class will allow students to gain financial wisdom while learning planning techniques to prepare for the future. The course will be led by Ted Sanders, a certified estate planner who has been providing invaluable financial wisdom to OLLI students since 2000.

“People have a tendency to react to events and base decisions on how bad or good things are,” Sanders explained. “They procrastinate when making important financial decisions. What they don’t realize is that once the event happens, it’s too late. Older adults should start to think long-term and plan ahead.”

The informative course will help students decide when the right time to retire is along with discussing what benefits they may be eligible for before retirement. Additionally, students will learn about coverage policies for specific benefits. Common phrases will be deciphered and additional benefits such as Medicare will be examined.

Registration is required to attend this free event. To sign up, call 770-423-6765 or visit ksuolli.com.
