KSU to Receive $40K to Support Success in Math

The AT&T contribution will fund Kennesaw State's Community Learning for Undergraduate Engagement project, designed in increase student success in calculus and pre-calculus.

A $40,000 contribution from AT&T will enable Kennesaw State University’s College of Science and Mathematics to implement a multifaceted strategy to increase student success.

The AT&T contribution will fund Kennesaw State’s Community Learning for Undergraduate Engagement (K-CLUE) project, designed in increase student success in two of the College’s most difficult courses, calculus and pre-calculus.

These lower division courses serve as gateways into all of the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. They are also predictors of student success in the overall curriculum. These courses have the highest D-F-W (withdrawal) rates at the University.

The contribution will enable the College to hire students who have already passed the courses as learning assistants, who will help their peers with the course work. The learning assistants will increase success rates in these courses and aid the retention-progression-graduation rate of students at the University.

The contribution will also help with the development of a mobile application, KSU Study Buddy, which will permit students to use social media to create study networks.
