Last Chance: Military Academy Day

Sign up by Monday at 5 p.m. to get a hands-on demonstration of military opportunities and learn about applying for and attending one of the military service academies.

Teens can learn all about the five U.S. service academies and how to apply to attend them during the annual at on May 12.

The free event is aimed at eighth- to 12th-graders who are interested in attending the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy or U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

“I am pleased to once again host this unique opportunity for Georgia students to learn about our nation’s military academies,” said Sen. Johnny Isakson, the Georgia Republican organizing the event. “Students and their families will hear about what each academy has to offer, as well as learn more about the requirements and application process for attending these fine institutions.”

Isakson and Congressmen Phil Gingrey, Hank Johnson and Rob Woodall, each of whom may nominate students to attend the academies, are planning to be there.

Because of security requirements at Dobbins, if you want to attend, you must register by 5 p.m. Monday.
