Lottery Deadline Approaches for Charter School

Kennesaw Charter Science and Math Academy will move into its new facility on Monday, April 9.

Kennesaw Charter Science and Math Academy will hold its lottery in February, two months before the public charter school moves into its newly built 100,000-square-foot facility at 3010 Cobb Parkway.

Monday, April 9, is the official move-in date.

"The interior is basically done with the exception of the gym floors and some miscellaneous items from each trade. Once these items are complete we will begin with finals," reads a building update from Jon Taylor, Project Manager with Hodges and Hicks, posted Thursday on the school's website.

The public charter school with a focus on mathematics and science serves students in grades K-6 in Cobb County. According to facility updates posted online, the school's current facility on Lockhart Drive sits on about 5.5 acres and is just under 40,000 square feet. By comparison, the new facility is 100,000 square feet and sits on 33 acres of land.

In 2010, Kennesaw Mayor Mark Mathews and the City Council agreed to annex the new property into the Kennesaw city limits.
