University Place II Opens Next Week

Kennesaw State's new residential complex will house upperclass students.

Upperclassmen at will get to move into the newest phase of the college's University Place II housing complex on Thursday.

The move-in day event will include a ribbon cutting, music, food and tours of the facility. University Place II, a 207,500-square-foot apartment complex, features 451 bedrooms, in-room and outdoor Wi-Fi connectivity, amphitheater, courtyard, a multipurpose room and a Residence Life office. The new development is located adjacent to , a 700-bed facility.

The ribbon cutting will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by tours of the complex from 10-11 a.m. A free concert for students will be held in the University Place Amphitheater at 7 p.m.

began last October. It was paid for by the KSU Foundation with bonds issued by the Development Authority of Cobb County.

With the addition of University Place II, Kennesaw State has almost 3,500 on-campus beds to accommodate appproximately 15 percent of the student population.

Kennesaw State has been a residential campus for 10 years. In 2009, College Planning & Management magazine recognized KSU’s University Village Suites as a “Project of Distinction” in its Education Design Showcase Awards issue. Also in 2009, Kennesaw State received three of six statewide awards from the Georgia Housing Officers Association in categories recognizing outstanding programs and personnel.
