I like to ponder things. It occurred to me as I was reading this that indulgence is required to be successful. Indulgence has also led a many men and women to the bondage only known in the self imposed prisons of OVER indulgence.

If the word indulge means to give oneself up to or give way to a thing then indulging in poisonous foods or over indulging in any food can lead one to unintended consequences of obesity. I say unintended consequences because no one sets out to be over weight, unhealthy, discontent, and depressed. We set out to indulge in the instant gratification of tasty treats. We set out to self-nurture and pleasure ourselves with tasty treats. We wouldn’t do that if it weren’t pleasurable in the moment. We allow ourselves to get into the wrong state of mind, forget our goals, and we indulge. In other words we give ourselves over to cravings and instant pleasure without working ourselves into the correct state of awareness and understanding of the unintended consequences that will come with this incorrect state of mind.

There are also other things we indulge in that remove us further from success, especially weight loss success. We indulge in and give ourselves over to self-doubt and self-pity. Self-doubt leads to discouragement and is one of the most treacherous ways of thinking that we can indulge in. We all hear negative voices and voices of self-doubt and self pity, but winners don’t take these negative thoughts and feelings into inventory. Winners are aware of these thoughts and disregard these thoughts.

Winning takes work. Winners indulge in the work and the WORD. Indulgence is required to be successful. I have been working since I was 14 years old. My parents were tough on me and I am glad they were. They taught me the value of hard work and effort. They were demanding of me. They helped me increase my capacity for work at a very early age. Watching them both work two and three jobs to make ends meet make even my very busy schedule look like child’s play. They indulged in hard work and they helped me understand the value of effort. My capacity to work and endure is great. As I listen to others talk and indulge in self-pity I often wonder if they have the capacity to work for what they want. I talk to others that put in the effort and accomplish incredible weight loss success. It seems the ones with more physical limitations or those that are up against more often times are the ones achieving the most, while the ones that have a cake walk in life are the ones who can’t muster the effort to even get up off of the couch.

You must be willing to indulge in the work and effort required to lose the weight. Once you lose the weight you will be able to indulge in the satisfaction of the result of your hard work. I have some goals and I am willing to indulge in the effort to achieve those goals. I will one day see my work to a successful end and lay in that hammock that is in my mind and indulge in the satisfaction of a job well done.

When you have a goal, you answer the self-doubt and questions in your mind like this?

1) How long will I indulge in the effort required to reach my goal?
As long as it takes.

2) How far am I willing to go to achieve this goal?
As far as it takes.

3) What am I willing to do to achieve my goals?
Anything and everything as long as it lines up with God’s word.

4) What will I do when obstacles arise and get in the way of me obtaining my goals?
I will treat these obstacles as minor inconveniences on my way to my goal. Nothing will stop me.

5) What will I do when I fall or fail?
I will get up and try again.

ou have to want to achieve your goals more than you want to breathe, more than you want to sleep, and more than you want to eat. If you are going to willingly indulge in the work required to achieve your goal you better have a laser locked focus on a worth while goal. Indulge in the WORK and indulge in the WORD.

More important in indulging in the work is being willing to indulge in the WORD. Worthwhile goals require supernatural guidance and faith. Worthwhile goals are obtained only after navigating through, over, and around mountains and giants. The only way a man or woman can overcome the obstacles between them and their goals is to have the type of faith that can move mountains. I don’t have much faith, but the little I have is sufficient and as long as I am indulging in the WORD I cannot be moved.

The next time you begin indulging in self-doubt, worry, and pity why not put your faith in action? Why not indulge in the WORD? The Bible says that you have the POWER of LIFE living inside of you. Feeling dead and depleted on the inside? No problem, indulge in the WORD.

In the beginning was the WORD and the WORD was with GOD. His WORD will light your path. His WORD was before you, His WORD is with you now, and His WORD will be here long after you and I are gone. The pundits and critics will criticize it’s authority and it’s power, but the WORD will endure long after all of it’s detractors are gone. Indulge in the WORD and He will give life to you and He will give you the faith you need to achieve your goals.

The word indulge means to give yourself over to something. If you want to be successful give yourself over to HIM and His Will for your life. Be His captive and submit to Him. I’m glad that He is mine and that I am His. I will indulge in Him today. I will completely and utterly give myself to Him today.

Indulging,
