Cobb Grad Makes Braves Playoff Roster

The right-handed pitcher had two strong starts in September.

After making a good impression in September, David Hale may get to play some more baseball in October.

Playoff baseball.

Hale, a 2006 graduate of The Walker School in East Cobb, was named to the Braves' National League Division Series roster Wednesday by manager Fredi Gonzalez.

The Braves play host to the Los Angeles Dodgers Thursday night in the opening game of the series at Turner Field.

A right-handed pitcher who played collegiately at Princeton, Hale had two starts for the Braves in September, striking out 14 batters in 11 innings and earning his first major-league victory. (Career stats here.)

His role would likely be in relief in the post-season.

Hale was called up by the Braves after spending most of the season at Gwinnett, their top minor league team.

Gonzalez notably omitted from the roster slumping second baseman Dan Uggla, the team's highest-paid player ($13 million a season).
