A Short Respite and a Note of Thanks

We just wanted to let you know that we am taking a short break from the blogsphere.  We think we accomplished quite a bit in the short time we were blogging about the issues down at City Hall.  This does not mean by any stretch that we are done, as the last post indicates those that we elected have work ahead of them.  And to be fair, we will be watching the newly elected to make sure they stay true to the campaign promises.  That is the beauty of the freedom to vote and it is on that score that we wish to exit gracefully from the blogsphere for a couple of months (unless something occurs to draw us back between now and the new City Hall session).

On this Veteran’s Day we want to thank those that have served the country to defend our “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”.  It is to these brave individuals that we owe a debt of gratitude as they have allowed us to live in the greatest country that history has ever known.  The brave warriors who have supported our rights can only do so when the citizens of this great country exercise their rights to vote and have their voices heard.  From local elections to the election of the President, voting is the ultimate expression of thanks to our Veterans.

In closing, should we not have to post a blog between now and the end of the year, we want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, a Happy Hanukkah and a very Merry Christmas.  For those who are interested in fun facts to tell your children, Hanukkah and Thanksgiving occur on the same day this year, November 28th, which last happened in 1888.  So the headlines will be “Happy Thanksgivukkah”.  According to the Religious News Service, the convergence of Hanukkah and Thanksgiving won’t happen again for another 77,798 years.
