Calling All Idiots

Good morning,

By now the Marietta Daily Journal article regarding the lax credit card policies and spending by the City of Kennesaw officials is making its rounds, even Cobb County Commissioner Tim Lee could not believe the quote by mayor Mark Mathews (from now on the word mayor will carry the small "m" to emphasize the lack of leadership, except for below as quoted from the MDJ).  For those that missed it allow me to provide the quote and Mr. Lee's response:  

"As for Mayor Mark Mathews’ comment that he doesn’t bother to keep track of every single cent he spends while out on city business because, “It would be a waste of time to document reimbursements, although it might look bad to ‘the idiots that like to look at the nickels and dimes stuff,’” Lee could only shake his head."

I'm calling upon all the idiots in the City of Kennesaw to join me at the next City Council meeting this coming Monday night to register your thoughts with the mayor and his voting cabal of Reidemann, Duckett and Killingsworth (Mr. Killingsworth had his own admission that "per diems would end up costing the taxpayers more money).  The City has a Public Comment section in which citizens (aka "idiots") can register to speak what is on their minds.  I'm hoping we can stretch the meeting to oh, I don't know, 4-5 hours?  In any event, I'll try to have "Hello, I'm an Idiot" buttons available!

Now, here is where this is going.  I've been very vocal about the spending issues in the City, and Killingsworth, Reidemann and Duckett have had ample opportunity to reach out to me to discuss the issues ahead of the election.  Quite frankly they might be nice guys, but you know what your mother taught you:  "You are judged by the company you keep".  They know who I am because the mayor knows (otherwise, why would he have had Paul Chastain waiting in the lurch to publicly attack me at the previous meetings).  Yet they have failed to engage in any kind of discussion, or to reject the mayor's comment that "the idiots" are, well, idiots. 

I am assuming they thought my blogs would simply fade away, that I was just some gadfly, rebel-rousing carpetbagger and that no one reads stuff on the Patch anyway.  In the digital age they forgot the 19th century adage:  "Never pick a fight with a man that buys his ink by the barrel". Today, it's unlimited pixels, e-mails and Facebook.

I hope the citizens of Kennesaw will come out in droves next Tuesday to vote for some new leaders.  I am a supporter of Williams, Sebastian and Jenkins, and may have very well supported Reidemann and Duckett had they been able to break free of the orbital-grip that the mayor holds on them and enact real change.  As for Killingsworth, the voters can remove him from office in the next round of voting in 2014.  His quote from the Sunday MDJ article will come back to haunt him.

So here's to the "Idiot Party"....may we all be smart enough to pull the right levers come Tuesday!
