Fall-O-Ween Brings Trick-or-Treating, Costume Contests to Kennesaw

Activities will include free and pay-to-play inflatables and a trackless train, carnival games, a Trick-or-Treat Trail, children's crafts, scarecrow displays and handcarved, illuminated pumpkins.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, Swift-Cantrell Park will be transformed into “Spook-Central Park” for a Fall-O-Ween Fest and outdoor movie. 

Activities will begin at 5 p.m. and will include free and pay-to-play inflatables and a trackless train, carnival games, a Trick-or-Treat Trail, children's crafts, scarecrow displays and handcarved, illuminated pumpkins.

Costumed trick-or-treaters can win some great prizes in a costume contest open to all ages as well as dogs. 

Costume judging categories will include: Cutest, Funniest, Scariest, Most Original, Most Heroic, Best Duo/Group, Best Canine, and Best Canine/Owner Dress-A-Like.

One category winner and one runner-up will be selected from each age group, with the exception of the Duo/Group and Canine categories which will have one overall winner and one runner-up.  

Judging begins at 5 p.m. and different categories will be judged every 20 minutes; winners will be announced at approximately 7:15 p.m.

Local businesses, schools, community groups and residents are also invited to drop-off carved pumpkins at the park's picnic pavilions between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m. on the day of the event. Jack-O-Lanterns will be judged by the public.

At 7:30 p.m., the City of Kennesaw's 2013 Outdoor Movie Series continues with a free screening of Hotel Transylvania. Concessions will be available for purchase. Parking is available inside the park and at neighboring Kennesaw Elementary School. The event may be canceled due to inclement weather conditions.
