Vietnam Vet, KSU Instructor Dies at 69

There will be a memorial service and a celebration of his life at the First Baptist Church of Douglasville Sunday at 2 p.m.

Funeral for Carmo Family Monday

More than $50,000 has been raised for funeral arrangements and Lidiane’s medical bills.

The funeral for Kennesaw’s Carmo family will be held Monday at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Marietta. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the public service will follow a visitation starting at 1:30 p.m. at the church at 56 Whitlock Ave., a little more than three miles from the small, 2-year-old Brazilian-immigrant church Jose Carmo Jr. served as pastor, Igreja Internacional da Restauracao (International Church of the Restoration). Carmo; his wife, Adriana; their first daughter, Leticia, 17; his brother Edson; and Edson’s girlfriend, Roselia DeSilva, died early Jan. 29 in a pileup on fog-shrouded Interstate 75 south of Gainesville, FL. Community Remembers Jay Ingram

Community members gathered on the soccer field at Living Hope Church Tuesday to celebrate the life and legacy of Coach Jay.

Yellow balloons floated into a sunlit sky Tuesday afternoon as more than 1500 people gathered on the Living Hope Church soccer field in Kennesaw to mourn, remember, and celebrate the life of Jeffrey "Jay" Ingram. The 32-year-old father of two died Friday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle while jogging on North Booth Road Thursday morning. "Coach Jay" was many things to many people. He was a youth soccer coach, a physical education teacher at Kennesaw Charter Science and Math Academy, an active member of his church, a loving husband to wife Corinne, and a father to Aiden and Kailyn. Coach Jay Continues to Touch Lives

The Kennesaw Charter teacher who died Friday after being struck by a vehicle has helped others through organ donation.

In life, Jay Ingram touched many lives in the Kennesaw community as a youth soccer coach, a physical education teacher at Kennesaw Charter Science and Math Academy, and a loving husband and father of two. In death, he continues to help others through the gift of organ donation. Ingram, 32, was struck by a vehicle Thursday morning while jogging on North Booth Road in Kennesaw. He died Friday at 3:30 p.m. due to complications from a severe traumatic brain injury. Beloved Father, Coach Passes Away

Coach Jay Ingram died Friday after being struck by a vehicle Thursday morning.

Updated Saturday at 7 a.m. Hundreds of community members attended a candlelight vigil for Coach Jay Ingram at the Quest Soccer Field in Kennesaw Friday night. The 32-year-old Kennesaw soccer coach and physical education teacher at Kennesaw Charter Science and Math Academy was struck by a vehicle Thursday morning while jogging on North Booth Road in Kennesaw. Ingram was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in critical condition and died of his injuries Friday afternoon. Answers About Kennesaw State Student's Death Expected This Week

Central Gwinnett High School will retire Jerry Coleman's basketball jersey during a tribute tonight.

Family members expect to have more answers about what caused the death of Kennesaw State University freshman and standout high school basketball star Jerry Coleman by the end of this week, reported CBS Atlanta. Coleman, who died Dec. 19 a few days after having his wisdom teeth removed, went to sleep on a Sunday and was found unresponsive in his room by his mother, Tracy Knight, the following morning. The college freshman played basketball at Central Gwinnett during high school and was planning on trying out for Kennesaw State's basketball team. Kennesaw State Student Dies Overnight

Jerry Coleman reportedly had his wisdom teeth removed just days before his death.

A Kennesaw State University freshman and standout high school basketball star has died at the age of 19. The Gwinnett Daily Post reports Jerry Coleman was found dead Monday morning after he reportedly passed in his sleep. David Allen, Coleman's high school basketball coach at Central Gwinnett, told The GDP that the college freshman underwent a routine procedure to have his wisdom teeth removed on Friday and complained of some discomfort, but appeared to be fine Sunday night when he went to bed. He was found dead by his mother the following morning. Coleman was named Lawrenceville Patch's Athlete of the Week in February. 'Goodbye, For Now'

Family and friends remember Shannon Lawrence during an emotional funeral at St. Michael the Archangel.

Hundreds of people flocked to St. Michael the Archangel Friday afternoon to remember Shannon Lawrence, the 25-year-old Canton woman and KSU student who died after Sunday's fatal custody swap in Milton. The vestibule of the Woodstock church was filled with poster-size photos of Lawrence and numerous floral arrangements. As the service began, it also held friends who could no longer find a pew in the 700-seat church. Mourners began to arrive an hour before mass. They greeted one another with hugs, tears and stories about Shannon. Hundreds of mourners said goodbye Friday afternoon to Shannon Lawrence, the 25-year-old Canton woman who died after Sunday's fatal custody swap in Milton. Lawrence leaves behind two children. She was a student at Kennesaw State University and had planned to enter the school's nursing program. A funeral mass was held at St. Michael the Archangel, followed by a procession to Cherokee Memorial Park in Canton.
