All lanes of Interstate 75 South at Delk Road will be closed for the next two hours due to a vehicle accident, and the the Georgia State Patrol is advising afternoon and evening commuters to use alternate routes. Just after 3:30 p.m. today, a tractor-trailer crashed into a box truck, which crashed into a passenger car, said Officer David Baldwin, the spokesman for the Marietta Police Department. The tractor-trailer is on its side. "All of those cars, because of the size, are blocking the entire interstate," he said. "There's no serious injuries. Only minor injuries involved." A 53-year-old Marietta man was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries.
The Cobb County Police Department has identified the five people involved in a major accident that caused heavy traffic delays Wednesday at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and McCollum Parkway. According to the department's preliminary findings, a blue 2006 Toyota Corolla was southbound on Cobb Parkway at the same time a green 2011 Volvo Tractor-Trailer was westbound on McCollum Parkway. The Volvo struck the Toyota on the driver’s side. The impact caused the Toyota to collide with three other vehicles that were stopped in the northbound lanes of Cobb Parkway, said Officer Mike Bowman, the spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department. Updated 3:40 p.m. A Kennesaw teacher was critically injured when he was hit by a vehicle at around 5 this morning. According to the Cobb County Police Department, 32-year-old Jeffrey Ingram was jogging east on North Booth Road nearing Junction Drive when he was hit by a red 2012 Chevrolet Traverse. Ingram was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital by ground and is listed in critical condition, said police. Police said the driver of the vehicle, 50-year-old William Benton of Doraville, was not injured. The collision is still under investigation, and charges are pending. Wonder who was at fault? I sat at a red light on Southbound 41 once, when it turned green I started to go but hesitated cause I saw a tractor trailer coming across from McCollum at full speed...glad I stopped or I might have been dead!
