Kennesaw Property Sold

The property consists of two office/industrial buildings at 2120 and 2124 Barrett Park Drive.

A 151,665-square-foot piece of property on Barrett Park Drive has been sold, officials announced this week. The property, which consists of two office/industrial buildings at 2120 and 2124 Barrett Park Drive, is 100 percent leased to two tenants, including Alorica Inc., which has brought new jobs to Kennesaw since announcing plans last July to increase its workforce by 1,000.  Knapp Logistics Automation Inc. is the other tenant. Meritex, an active owner/operator of industrial real estate in metro Atlanta since 1992, first acquired the Barrett Park Drive property in December of 2010 as part of a 10-building, 750,000-square-foot portfolio. The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) will help Alorica recruit about 100 seasonal workers for a call center in Kennesaw. A recruitment of customer service representatives will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the GDOL’s Cobb-Cherokee Career Center, located at 465 Big Shanty Rd. in Marietta. Applicants must have a high school diploma or a General Education Diploma (GED) and type at least 35 words a minute. They should have a resume and are encouraged to dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for employment. The salary is $9 an hour. Don't bother applying .... you won't last. The company has had at least three waves of layoffs in the last six months. In fact, my boyfriend was laid off less than two months ago. Took them over a month to give him his final paycheck and they STILL haven't provided DOL all the documentation it needs for him to get his unemployment benefits.
