How to Be a Fit City

Kennesaw is promoting community health and fitness with a new website, a kick-off celebration this Saturday and several upcoming events.

The City of Kennesaw's community-wide Fit City health initiative officially kicks off this Saturday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ben Robertson Community Center. The event coincides with this week's launch of FitCityKennesaw.com. The new website, which includes health and fitness blogs, a calendar of fit-friendly events and a link to an American Heart Association program that allows participants to track their fitness stats and progress, is part of the city's year-long effort to turn Kennesaw into "Fit City, USA." “Our Fit City website is available to everyone, whether they attend the kickoff event or not,” said Councilmember Cris Welsh. “We hope people will use it to help them get started on the road to better fitness and health…

Hawks Guide McClure Back to School

The 1,200 students at the Kennesaw middle school had an opening day full of excitement.

Cheerleaders, mascots and an assistant coach from the Atlanta Hawks welcomed McClure Middle School students to the first day of the school year Aug. 15 and guided them across the Kennesaw school's new Bridge to Knowledge. The school also got a $2,500 boost from a donation from SCANA Energy.
