New York Times bestselling author and social commentator Cornel West will be in Kennesaw this weekend. He will headline a Sunday night forum at Kennesaw State University as part of the school's 2013 Martin Luther King Jr. celebration. West, the man behind classics such as Race Matters, has championed issues such as poverty in America, joining journalist Tavis Smiley on a nationwide bus tour to bring attention to the issue. He is scheduled to speak at 8 p.m. at the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center, which is located on Kennesaw State's campus, 1000 Chastain Rd. Doors open at 7 p.m.
